Documentation Requirement for Canada Student Visa

Documentation is an essential part of admission and study visa process. For Canada student visa, you need following documents:

  • Letter of Acceptance: To apply for a student visa, you must obtain a "letter of acceptance" from Canadian DLI and submit it along with your study permit application.
  • Identity proof: You must submit a valid passport or any other travel document along you’re your photographs and a birth certificate.
  • Enough proof of funds: You must have enough proof of funds and supporting documents.
  • Explanation letter: You must submit an explanation letter to demonstrate your purpose of choosing a particular study program in Canada to the visa officer.
  • A certificat d'acceptation du québec (caq): You need it only if you want to study in Quebec, Canada.
  • A declaration of custodian: It is required only in case of minor applicant.

Proof of funds requirement

You have to provide enough proof of funds as evidence that you can support yourself and your accompanying family members (if any) in Canada financially.

As a proof of financial support, you can submit any of the following:

  • Canadian bank account proof which is in your name, in case you have transferred the money
  • Student or education loan proof from a bank
  • Bank statements for last 4 months
  • Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a Canadian financial institution
  • Tuition and housing fees payment proofs
  • Bank draft, which can be easily converted into Canadian dollars
  • Funding proof which is paid from within Canada, like, a scholarship or Canadian-funded educational program
  • Letter from a school or an individual who is providing you money

Canada’s Admissibility Criteria

To enter Canada, you must prove that you don't have any criminal background by submitting a Police Clearance Certificate. Also, you must provide a medical examination certificate to prove that you are in good health condition, both mentally and physically.

Biometrics Requirement

Based upon your country of residence or origin, you must get your biometrics done at a Visa Application Centre.

Canada Study Permit- Application process
